There's no denying that the Los Angeles Lakers will be playing with a huge target on their backs this coming season. Such is the price you pay for being the defending champs.

For Lakers shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, however, he believes that his team will be more than ready for the challenge ahead. The 27-year-old recently shared his thoughts on L.A.'s offseason acquisitions, and how he believes this will play a key role in their title defense:

“I think we’re going to be ready sooner than expected,” KCP said in a recent press interview, via Spectrum SportsNet (h/t TalkBasket.Net). “Because of the veteran guys that we did bring in. Marc, Wes Matthews and the younger two guys we have Dennis and Trez. I feel like it’s going to be as quick as possible.

The Lakers will be coming in with a revamped roster for the 2020-21 campaign, and some bumps along the road are to be expected. However, as Caldwell-Pope implied above, L.A. appears to have made a couple of tremendous decisions in the offseason that should have a significant impact on their season ahead.

“The guys know how to play. Marc has a championship with Toronto so he has that mindset, that mentality already. Other guys are just hungry I would say. They want that title. They want to come in and prove themselves. I feel like the chemistry is going to be put together as soon as possible.”

It's not going to be a cake walk, but the Lakers are indeed primed to go back-to-back this coming season.
