Exactly 18,997 paying spectators were lucky enough to witness Kobe Bryant play his last ever NBA game with the Los Angeles Lakers on April 13, 2016, and one of those lucky people got even luckier by selling their ticket – signed by Mamba himself – for just over $40,000.

According to TMZ, a ticket from the historic Kobe Bryant game sold at Goldin Auctions for $40,590 after receiving 42 bids.

The buyer of the ticket, which was for section 302, Row 2W, Seat 2, is not known.

Kobe Bryant's last game has gone down in history, with the 37-year-old retiring GOAT nominee dropping a mesmerizing 60 points on the night, including 15 of the Lakers' final 17 points, as LA defeated the Utah Jazz 101-96.

It was his 1346th and final game for Kobe Bryant over a 20-season career that netted Mamba five championship rings, two NBA finals MVP awards, the league MVP in 2008 and 18 All-Star appearances.

It was reported at the time that the cheapest tickets to the final game for Kobe Bryant at the Staples Center were going for $888, with the average price around $21100, a 500 percent increase on the average price for a Lakers ticket in 2016.

The most expensive ticket on the night was reported to have sold for just over $25,000, which is still well below the price that the signed ticket sold for at the auction.

Since his tragic death last year in a helicopter accident, demand for Kobe Bryant memorabilia has skyrocketed.

A signed piece of hardcourt from his final game sold last October for $630,000, well above the initial estimates of $500,000 for the item.

A 2006-07 Topps Chrome rookie card of Kobe Bryant also recently sold at auction for $1,795,000, a record-setting price for a Bryant card on the market.
