Los Angeles Lakers head coach Luke Walton is always asking his young players to be aggressive and put their best foot forward when taking the court. He's done it with Julius Randle, done it with Kyle Kuzma, and drummed it repeatedly to Lonzo Ball throughout the season.

This time was Tyler Ennis' turn to hear it, but it was only a matter of seconds before Walton got a response he didn't expect to hear.

“When [Isaiah Thomas] was here playing, we ran every play for him in the second group,” said Ennis, according to Ryan Ward of ClutchPoints. “He [Luke Walton] always tells me to be aggressive. I told him I will if he gives me the IT plays and the IT package.”

With Lonzo Ball and Isaiah Thomas likely on the shelf for the remainder of the season, the Lakers were left with Alex Caruso and Ennis to run the show, and even if Ennis meant it jokingly — it wouldn't be a bad idea to let him loose with only a few games left.

“They've been on me about it. Just being aggressive in the second group. Being the playmaker because we have shooters and big men,” said Ennis. “I stay on him [Luke Walton] about calling the plays he called for IT [Isaiah Thomas] and call them for me.”

Ennis finished with 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the floor and 2-of-4 from deep, leading the team with seven of their total 32 assists in a hard-earned 122-112 overtime win against a victory-thirsty San Antonio Spurs team.
