Tyronn Lue has reportedly called Luke Walton to assure the Los Angeles Lakers head coach that the team hasn't spoken to him about a possible coaching job.

In a report by Bill Oram of The Athletic, a source close to the situation revealed that Lue assured Walton that the Lakers haven't contacted him. The two never became teammates but developed a close relationship since they were part of the Lakers organization.

Lue recently called Walton to assure him that the Lakers had not contacted him about a potential head coach opening, a source close to the situation said.

The source said Lue told Walton that if he was contacted by someone in the organization he would let the Lakers coach know out of “courtesy and friendship.”

The news comes in after several rumors have mushroomed regarding Luke Walton's future with the organization. Some believe that a coaching change is due after the end of the regular season. The Lakers aimed to at least qualify for the playoffs but injuries coupled with bad play prevented them from achieving their goals.

The popular consensus around the league believes that a massive overhaul of the Lakers team and staff might be in order. In the offseason, fans should expect major trade deals and free agent signings to ensue. A coaching change will also be in order. Early rumors have pointed to Jason Kidd as another potential replacement, but the franchise nor Kidd hasn't confirmed such news.
