Following the agreement between Phoenix Suns and their soon-to-be new head coach Monty Williams, the expectation is that Tyronn Lue will become the next coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, though an offer has yet to be extended his way, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Lakers had been courting Williams at first, but given the pause after their second meeting with him, things leaned closer to them hiring Lue, given his Xs and Os approach, as well as his rapport with LeBron James as his former coach.

Lue; who played his first three seasons with the franchise (though only a total of 61 games), coached James for two-and-a-half seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers before getting fired soon after the start of the 2018-19 season, now with James out of town.

Oddly enough, Lue's former team is still looking for a head coaching candidate, interviewing a series of assistants and even European prospects like former Lithuanian point guard Sarunas Jasikevicius.

Lue's strong rapport with James is believed to be the key to this potential agreement to coach this roster, as it was one of the prime ingredients missing from his relationship with former coach Luke Walton.

The Lakers also had former Milwaukee Bucks coach Jason Kidd as a potential finalist for the job, as he was a teammate of James with Team USA and competed against him during the end stretch of his career, including fiercely in the NBA Finals.

Others like Juwan Howard and Mark Jackson have been outside choices for the franchise, but neither have garnered enough attention to rival Lue. In layman's terms, this is Lue's job to accept, though it'll take a formal offer from the Lakers for it to finally materialize.
