At the moment, former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue still remains to be the front-runner to secure the recently-vacated head coaching position for the Los Angeles Lakers.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Lue's relationship with Lakers superstar LeBron James during their time together with the Cavs will prove to be Lue's unique selling proposition in terms of his fit for the job, but to be more specific, it's the no-nonsense type of coach-to-player relationship he had with LeBron.

“[Lue’s relationship with James] is certainly important, but I think one of the messages Ty Lue wants to get through to Rob Pelinka is, ‘I’m not here to be LeBron James’ coach,” Woj said, via Dan Duangdao of Lakers Nation “I’m here to coach the Lakers. I’m going to coach the whole group.’ I think one of the misnomers of Ty Lue’s time in Cleveland was, listen, he challenged LeBron James. He was hard on LeBron James at times. He’s not there to just be his caddy, and I do think that commanded LeBron’s respect. And I think that will be a big part of the conversation [Lue and Pelinka] have.”

It was earlier reported that Lue's initial sit-down with Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka went without a hitch, and that he is expected to have another interview, this time including team owner Jeanie Buss. L.A. are looking to fill the position fast, and the moment, Lue appears to be the best man for the job.

The Lakers are expected to officially announce their new coach sooner rather than later, with this pivotal task currently on top of their lengthy to-do list this summer. The opening for the team's president for basketball operations should also be filled within the next few weeks, and once these are out of the way, the front office can now focus on the bigger task at hand — recruiting some of the best players in an absolutely talent-packed free agent class.
