Tyronn Lue reportedly struck an emotional cord in his interview with the Los Angeles Lakers and left a lasting impression on ownership, according to Shams Charania of Watch Stadium.

The Lakers have interviewed Lue and Philadelphia 76ers assistant coach Monty Williams for its vacant coaching job.

Lue, of course, coached Lakers superstar small forward LeBron James on the Cleveland Cavaliers. The two went to three-straight NBA Finals, winning the 2016 championship over the Golden State Warriors.

Lue played for the Lakers back in the day. He was part of the 2001 title team which defeated Allen Iverson and the Sixers in five games.

With the Cavs, Lue went 128-83 during the regular season and 41-20 in the playoffs. Cleveland fired Lue on October 28, 2018 after they started the 2018-19 season at 0-6.

The Lakers need to find the right man to lead the team moving forward. Los Angeles missed the playoffs this season. The Purple and Gold have a big summer ahead. They are widely expected to try and trade for New Orleans Pelicans superstar big man Anthony Davis and sign star free agents in free agency with the cap space they have.

Lue has a strong relationship with James and held him accountable in Cleveland. Along with needing a new head coach, the Lakers also need a new president of basketball operations. Magic Johnson resigned from his position during the last week of the regular season.
