Lonzo Ball has been one of the most interesting rookies in the NBA. Before he was drafted, he was hyped into celebrity status by his father LaVar Ball. When he entered the NBA, Lonzo Ball initially didn't live up to the hype, failing to provide the Lakers with any offense at the beginning of the season. Now, Ball has gelled into the player the Lakers drafted him to be. He is a gifted floor general that can make brilliant plays for his teammates, and that's what the Lakers has wanted from him.

Despite having his fair share of critics, high school phenom Zion Williamson has stated that he is a supporter for Ball, according to Josh Martin of Lonzo Wire.

“Lonzo’s cold,” Williamson said. “He’s a retro point guard, real cold.” I want him to succeed,” he insisted. “I’m not ever gonna downtalk someone. I want him to succeed, man. I’m glad his dad got that much confidence in him, man.”

Being one of the best high school basketball players in the country, Williamson clearly knows what makes a great basketball player. While acknowledging Ball's skill as a retro point guard, he has a strong moral code not to talk down on any player. This makes sense, especially since Williamson still has a long way to go to make the NBA and doesn't want anyone harshly criticizing him.

Even for Lonzo Ball, he clearly is just beginning to blossom as a point guard. Hopefully, Ball will mature more as a star point guard for the Lakers down the road, as his team could potentially take on Williamson one day.
