The Los Angeles Lakers had a decent showing in this year’s free agency, acquiring Timofey Mozgov and Luol Deng to accompany the likes of Brandon Ingram. What is so special about this year is the amount of cap space they have saved for next years free agency,  which is loaded with talent.

With the ability to free up almost $32 million for 2017, many superstar athletes could really be attracted to what the Lakers franchise has to offer. Now that the great Kobe Bryant has hung up his jersey, a new basketball prodigy can direct this franchise in similar ways he did.

Certain big names like Russell Westbrook, Blake Griffin, and Chris Paul, have contracts ending next summer, so this option may attract them. The idea of Westbrook heading to this growing LA squad could be quite scary scene for other western conference teams.

And who knows, maybe even Kevin Durant will have a lackluster time with the Golden State Warriors and decide to opt out of his second year to join alongside his former teammate. This would require a lot of financial sacrifices, but it would still be interesting to see.

All in all, the Lakers should be mostly concerned with having a glorious season with their new talent if they want to attract superstars to bring this franchise back to it’s former glory.
