Yahoo Sports insider Chris Haynes doesn't think the front office of the Los Angeles Lakers is all that interested in signing veteran small forward Carmelo Anthony.

The Houston Rockets traded Carmelo Anthony to the Chicago Bulls this week. The Bulls will part ways with Anthony closer to the Feb. 7 trade deadline.

Because LeBron James is on the Lakers, people around the league believe Los Angeles is a perfect landing spot for Anthony. According to Haynes, James has made it clear he would like to bring Anthony to Los Angeles, but Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka might not want to.

“Well, LeBron James is over there,” Haynes said on the Nate Duncan podcast. “And he’s made it quite clear that he would like to play with Carmelo Anthony. So if we’re going off of the past, LeBron typically has a strong voice and teams usually operate in a manner that’s going to appease him. So I will say that he definitely has interest.

“I don’t know necessarily that the Lakers brass is all that interested in bringing Carmelo Anthony on board.”

Carmelo Anthony played in 10 games with the Rockets before the organization decided it just wasn't going to work out for the entire season. The 34-year-old averaged 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds while shooting 40.5 percent from the field and 32.8 percent from beyond the arc with Houston.

We haven't seen Anthony play in an NBA games since November. Melo has reportedly been training in New York, waiting for his next opportunity. Once he's a free agent, it will be very interesting to see if the Lakers pursue Anthony or decide to pass on him.
