The Los Angeles Lakers went out to acquired Russell Westbrook from the Washington Wizards on the night of the NBA Draft and sent everybody into a frenzy. Reports came out that veterans such Carmelo Anthony, Rudy Gay, and DeMar DeRozan had interest in teaming up with the Lakers' talented trio. But, according to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, the DeRozan to Lakers dream has apparently hit some snags.

“It’s definitely starting to sound like the situation of him going to Los Angeles on the mid-level is not going to be the case… I don’t think it’s a sure bet that DeMar is going to take that mid-level to go to Los Angeles. That was something that was heavily discussed and rumored the last week or so, but now it does not seem to be the case.”

On one hand, DeRozan taking that little money would be a surprise. On the other hand, DeRozan eagerly wants to win an NBA title and going to the Lakers would give him a fantastic opportunity.

Truth be told, who knows what DeRozan decides to do, although taking that big of a pay cut seems far from likely, especially for a player of DeRozan's caliber.

NBA free agency kicks off on Monday, August 2, and there should be a flurry of veterans headed to the Lakers on cheap deals, although DeRozan probably won't be one of them.
