Per Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes, free agent shooting guard Dion Waiters is set to meet with the Los Angeles Lakers for the second time on March 2.

Waiters have already met with the Lakers once as the 28-year-old met with the team earlier this month.

Waiters was traded from the Miami Heat to the Memphis Grizzlies at the NBA trade deadline in the deal that sent Andre Iguodala, Solomon Hil and Jae Crowder to Miami.

The former No. 4 overall pick played just three games for the Heat this season before getting dealt. in those three games, the 6-foot-3 shooting guard put up 9.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game while shooting 38.5 percent from the field and 47.1 percent from deep.

Off-the-court issues have also hindered Waiters' career recently as the veteran had been suspended by the Heat multiple times this season due to “conduct detrimental to the team”.

Regardless, Waiters has developed a pension for being a high-volume, low-efficiency scorer throughout his eight years in the NBA and could definitely help a team looking for a scoring burst.

As for the Lakers, the team just recently signed former Detroit Pistons forward Markieff Morris after he was waived by the team and are already a top 10 scoring team in the league.

Also of note, if signed by the LAkers, Waiters would rejoin his former teammate in LeBron James who played with Waiters for half a season on the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2014.

At 43-12, the Lakers currently have the best record in the Western Conference and the second-best in the NBA.
