It looks like the rumors are true that the Los Angeles Lakers are considering Isaiah Thomas as a potential support to their new Big 3 of LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook.

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Thomas was among the three guards that the Lakers recently worked out along with Darren Collison and Mike James. In fact, Thomas reportedly concluded his workout with LeBron and Westbrook.

As Haynes noted, however, the Lakers have no plans to sign anyone immediately and will take their time as they look to add guard and wing depth ahead of the 2021-22 season.

The Lakers could also elect to bring players into training camp to fight for the last few roster spots.

The Lakers, who have 12 players under guaranteed contracts, will go into the 2021-22 season carrying 14 players in order to maintain flexibility, sources said. Each team can carry a maximum of 15 players and two two-way players.

For what it's worth, LeBron James has been in full support of Isaiah Thomas in his comeback bid. When IT reflected about his journey to return to the NBA, the Lakers forward responded with some encouraging words.

It remains to be seen if the Purple and Gold will give Thomas a chance to prove himself in the NBA once again. However, there is no doubt that the former Boston Celtics star is doing everything he can to get another crack at the top basketball competition in the world. Aside from working out with LA and perhaps other teams, he has been making headlines recently for his dominant showing in various Pro Am leagues.

Hopefully, the fallen King of the Fourth gets his shot at redemption.
