Jason Kidd is reportedly a big believer in Lonzo Ball and wants to help the Los Angeles Lakers develop him, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

Kidd has interviewed for the Lakers' head coaching job. The Hall of Famer reportedly was going to be part of Tyronn Lue's coaching staff, but Lue didn't take the job because he wasn't comfortable with the organization picking his assistants for him.

With Lue out of the mix now, Kidd could become the next coach of Los Angeles and help Ball take the next step in his development.

“I don’t want to pull back the curtain too much, but I’ve spent a considerable amount of time talking to Jason Kidd about the Lakers job,” Windhorst said on ESPN Radio, via Christian Rivas of Lonzo Wire. “I can’t say that I know exactly what he said to them in his interview, but I have a general idea of what his vision for the team was and I think one of the things that Jason really believed in was developing their young players.

“Again, I don’t want to violate too much of a confidence here, but when we spoke about it, I really do think he was a big believer in Lonzo Ball. He thinks Lonzo Ball can really be a good player. He wants to help develop him.”

Ball is similar to Kidd in many ways. The guard has tremendous vision and is big like Kidd.

In his second season with the Lakers, Ball averaged 9.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game. He shot 40.6 percent from the field and 32.9 percent from beyond the arc, but just 41.7 percent from the free-throw line.
