Rival executives reportedly believe should Jimmy Butler decide not to re-sign with the Philadelphia 76ers, he might sign with the Los Angeles Lakers unless he chooses the Brooklyn Nets, according to Howard Beck of Bleacher Report.

Butler becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer once he declines his 2019-20 player option with the Sixers.

Rival executives will tell you, without hesitation, that Durant is bound for the Knicks; that Irving is likely to join him; that Leonard likes the Clippers; that Butler might choose the Lakers—unless he chooses the Nets.

The Lakers are desperate to get another star player alongside LeBron James.

If Los Angeles is unable to trade for New Orleans Pelicans superstar big man Anthony Davis this offseason, they might be forced to offer Butler a max contract since all the other big time free agents are likely uninterested in signing with them.

Butler is one of the best two-way players in the NBA. He's been a locker room issue, however, with the Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves and had a heated conversation with Sixers head coach Brett Brown.

In 64 games this season with the Timberwolves and Sixers, Butler is averaging 18.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists. The Lakers' defense and offense would increase tremendously if Butler came to Los Angeles.
