Los Angeles Lakers small forward Kyle Kuzma is eligible to sign a rookie-scale extension with the franchise this summer.

If Kuzma and the Lakers can't agree to a deal, the talented swingman will enter restricted free agency in 2021 after Los Angeles offers him his qualifying offer.

After helping the Lakers win the 2020 title over the Miami Heat in six games, Kuzma is looking to get paid handsomely by the Lakers. According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, Kuzma is expecting a “sizable deal” from the Purple and Gold.

“Then you got Kyle Kuzma, who is extension eligible, still has a year left on his contract but is extension eligible,” Windhorst said on the Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective podcast, via Heavy.

“And from what I understand, he is expecting a sizable deal, hoping for a sizable deal.”

During the 2019-20 regular season, Kuzma averaged 12.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists while shooting 43.6 percent from the field, 31.6 percent from beyond the arc and 73.5 percent from the free-throw line.

In the 2020 playoffs at Walt Disney World in the NBA bubble, Kuzma put up 10.0 points in 21 games against the Portland Trail Blazers, Houston Rockets, Denver Nuggets and Heat.

The Lakers could always trade Kuzma this offseason, as the team has been linked to Chris Paul, Derrick Rose and Dennis Schröder. It's going to be interesting to see where Kuzma is playing next season and what type of money he gets either from the Lakers or another team should he enter restricted free agency in 2021.
