Los Angeles Lakers fans were pretty thrilled with the team's latest acquisition of Dennis Schroder from the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Danny Green and their 2020 second-round pick. It's no secret that the reigning NBA champions were looking for another playmaker, and they were reportedly initially going to part ways with Kyle Kuzma before the Schroder deal.

Prior to reaching an agreement with OKC, the Purple and Gold allegedly wanted to send Kuzma to the New Orleans Pelicans for Jrue Holiday, according to Bleacher Report's Eric Pincus.

“From what I understand, there was interest in Jrue Holiday on the Lakers’ side ahead of Dennis Schroder with a similar package, but with Kuzma in it as well. … So I know that, on some level, they’d be willing to move him. Like, if it was a significant upgrade,” Pincus revealed on the “Locked on Lakers” podcast (via Lakers Daily).

Kyle Kuzma, of course, hasn't been a fan favorite in LA this season following his lackluster showing in his third year. The 6-foot-8 forward notched career lows across the board, tallying 12.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. His shooting efficiency also took a major dip, making just 43.6 percent from the floor and 31.6 percent from deep in 61 games.

Luckily for the Lakers, they still completed the job and emerged as the 2020 NBA champions despite Kuz's rather inconsistent performance. The Laker brass, meanwhile, reportedly has no idea what to do with Kuzma at the moment. The 25-year-old is reportedly seeking a sizable extension from the team, but LA has yet to commit to this idea.
