The Los Angeles Lakers will be looking to make some moves this offseason to strengthen their roster. Although many believe they should trade Russell Westbrook, that's going to be nearly impossible given his salary which is north of $45 million per season.

One player who the Lakers are reportedly interested in is Cleveland Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton. However, as Sam Amico notes, LA essentially has no chance at paying him what he wants as the former Alabama standout seeks a new contract.

“Anyway, there are so many things to consider here,” Sam Amico of Hoops Wire reported. “[Darius] Garland and Sexton share an agent. Garland became the face of the Cavs. The Cavs traded for Caris LeVert, who plays Sexton’s position. And Sexton is drawing plenty of interest — with a few league sources telling me even LeBron James‘ Lakers are interested. (That’s not happening, but explaining why is another full day of Dribbles).”

Sexton missed most of last season with a meniscus injury and is a restricted free agent this summer. That means the Cavs can match any offer for him and they're reportedly interested in retaining the 23-year-old. The Lakers are certainly cash-strapped because of Westbrook's massive salary, which is exactly why Sexton won't probably end up in LA unless he took a massive pay cut. That's not going to happen.

The Lakers' roster, as constructed, is simply too old to defend at a high level. That being said, if LeBron, Anthony Davis, and Russ can actually co-exist together and shine, 2021-22 could be a much different story, especially if the organization can add some intriguing two-way pieces to the mix.
