After a long 2020-2021 NBA season, it seems like LeBron James and Anthony Davis have finally made a decision on whether or not they'll be spearheading Team USA for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar duo had to deal with respective injuries during the course of their championship defense this past season.

And, now that their season is finally over, it appears that both James and Davis will be taking time off this summer to try and get back to 100% before the 2021-2022 season tips off (according to Joe Vardon of The Athletic).

“Neither LeBron nor Davis is expected to play for Team USA due to their terrible seasons of injuries, according to a source close to both players,” Vardon wrote.

I guess LeBron saying that he's playing for the Tune Squad this summer wasn't a joke.

James suffered a high-ankle injury in March and basically never got back to being 100%. The four-time MVP missed 20 straight games before sitting out a few more weeks after that just to get himself ready for the post-season. Though he did play all six games against the Phoenix Suns in the first round, James looked a bit winded as the 36-year-old was eliminated in the opening round of the playoffs for the first time in his career.

Davis, on the other hand, also had an injury-filled season. Like James, Davis missed a chunk of time earlier this calendar year and moved heaven and earth just to be back in the playoffs. Unfortunately, the 28-year-old reinjured his groin in Game 6 after just playing five minutes.

Clearly, things didn't go as planned for Laker Nation this past season. If both LeBron and AD want another shot at grabbing the title again next season, they might need all the rest they can get this summer.
