Los Angeles Lakers superstar small forward LeBron James and Boston Celtics star point guard Kyrie Irving reportedly hung out in Los Angeles last Saturday, according to Jordan Schultz of ESPN.

Irving becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer once he declines his 2019-20 player option with the Celtics. There has been talk Irving may be open to reuniting with James on the Lakers.

Irving and James, of course, were teammates for three seasons on the Cleveland Cavaliers. The duo went to three straight NBA Finals, winning the 2016 title over the Golden State Warriors in seven games.

Irving then shocked the basketball world in the summer of 2017 when he requested a trade from the Cavs. Uncle Drew supposedly wanted to escape the shadow of James.

This season, Irving revealed to reporters in Boston he called James and apologized for how he acted in Cleveland. The All-Star guard learned first-hand this season how hard it is to be a leader of a team.

The Lakers have cap space to sign a max contract player this summer. It would be fascinating to see James and Irving back playing together. After all, they were a lethal duo in Cleveland.

LeBron averaged 27.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 8.3 assists in his first season with the Lakers. Irving, meanwhile, put up 23.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.9 assists in his second season with the Celtics.
