Some close to D'Angelo Russell have reportedly indicated the guard may be open to signing with the Los Angeles Lakers this summer, according to Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report.

Kyrie Irving is widely expected to sign with the Brooklyn Nets, which means Russell would likely be on his way out of Brooklyn. Now that Magic Johnson isn't with the Lakers anymore and Los Angeles needs a point guard, it appears there's a chance Russell could return to LA this offseason.

Russell's breakup with the Lakers wasn't pretty, but it's difficult to hold grudges in this league. With Johnson gone, some close to Russell have indicated he may be open to the idea if Brooklyn isn't in the picture.

The Lakers traded Russell to the Nets in the summer of 2017 and then drafted Lonzo Ball with the second overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. Russell became an All-Star with the Nets this past season and has clearly matured off the court. Ball, meanwhile, is now on the New Orleans Pelicans.

Russell becomes a restricted free agent this offseason, but if the Nets renounce his free agent rights after signing Irving, the lefty would become an unrestricted free agent and free to sign with any team of his choice.

DLo spoke with Lakers superstar LeBron James last summer on how to become the best player he can be. It will be really interesting to see if Russell ends up back in the Purple and Gold. It would be a fascinating storyline.
