The Los Angeles Lakers are still trying to find ways to free up cap space in order to create another max slot for another superstar free agent. Up to this point, they are still trying to convince teams to take the contracts of Moe Wagner, Isaac Bonga, and Jemerio Jones.

One of the teams that the Lakers are in touch with is the Atlanta Hawks, according to Mark Heisler of the Orange County Register.

Insiders think it’s fixable with Pelinka now in talks with Atlanta, trying to give the rookies away or pay the Hawks to take them … but wouldn’t have been necessary if they had thought it through.

Experts still believe that Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka made some mistakes in terms of how the Anthony Davis trade was constructed. Although that has been disputed, apparently, some are still not convinced.

Whether they made a mistake or not, the point is the Lakers landed AD. Now, all they need to do is to find ways to unload the rookie contracts of Wagner, Bonga and Jones. Should they be successful in doing so, they will have enough cap space to go after Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie Irving or Kemba Walker.

The Lakers' masterplan is to form a ‘Big Three.' They already have LeBron James and AD. All that needs to be done is to land that third star, and they are almost guaranteed to contend for multiple titles in the future.
