Despite talks about Russell Westbrook's unhappiness with the Los Angeles Lakers, the superstar guard has not asked for a trade from the Purple and Gold.

Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports made the revelation amid rumors that Westbrook and the Lakers are headed to an “inevitable divorce.” While there have been discussions about LA potentially trading Russ in a deal to land Kyrie Irving, the 33-year-old guard has reportedly reaffirmed his commitment to the team as long as he's there.

LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Westbrook apparently all huddled up in a call to talk about that, especially since there remains the possibility that they end up playing together in 2022-23.

Per Haynes: While the uncertainty of Westbrook’s future with the Lakers remains, the conversation was organized to make sure all three were on the same page as long as they’re joined together in their pursuit of a championship, sources said.

Westbrook has never requested a trade from the Lakers, sources said.

This is certainly welcome news for the Lakers in their bid to bounce back next season. Should Russell Westbrook stay, they would want to avoid unnecessary drama as much as possible. The conversation between their Big 3 surely helps in that regard.

Talks about Westbrook's dissatisfaction should also subside, even if just for a little bit. After all, if he's not happy with the Lakers, he would have already asked for a trade.

Westbrook's future in LA remains uncertain, but at least the Lakers won't have any problems in the event that they decide to give their current core another shot.
