The Los Angeles Lakers have already started their coaching search with a number of initial interviews among their preferred candidates, but they are not rushing the hiring process.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Lakers are purposely taking things slow as they hope to see whether or not top coaches like Doc Rivers and Quin Snyder will be available in the offseason. Rivers is still in the playoffs with the Philadelphia 76ers–facing the Miami Heat in the second round–while Snyder was just recently eliminated from postseason contention along with his Utah Jazz and there hasn't been any update with regards to his future.

Former Portland Trail Blazers coach Terry Stotts, Milwaukee Bucks assistant coach Darvin Ham, Toronto Raptors assistant coach Adrian Griffin and Jackson are the four known candidates to have interviewed with the Lakers to date. Sources maintain that the Lakers’ search is moving deliberately at least in part because L.A. wants to see if Philadelphia’s Doc Rivers or Utah’s Quin Snyder makes it to the open market this offseason.

For what it's worth, it has been reported recently that the Lakers are looking for an established coach to succeed Frank Vogel since they need someone who can make LeBron James buy in, which is why they are said to be taking their time. However, as everyone is aware of, the options are limited and a lot of top-tier coaches are employed by teams already.

It is unknown who will end up taking over LA, but there is no doubt that coach will have a ton of pressure on their shoulders turning around a franchise coming off a chaotic season.
