The Los Angeles Lakers really want to make roster upgrades after losing in the first round of the playoffs this year. With LeBron James getting up there in age and Anthony Davis' health often a question mark, having more reinforcements would be helpful. The Lakers have been linked to seemingly every big name out there, though they don't exactly have the trade assets to make a truly blockbuster deal.

One trade that seems to be gaining some traction, though, is the reported deal involving Kyle Kuzma and Sacramento Kings guard Buddy Hield. The Athletic's Sam Amick says this rumor has some legs to it:

Alas, ESPN’s Marc Spears indicated that a Russell Westbrook sign-and-trade with Washington could be a possibility, and Charania indicated that a Buddy Hield deal might be in the works with Sacramento. Of all the scenarios for a supporting player believed to be in play, one source to the situation indicated the Hield deal — which would involve forward Kyle Kuzma and would also likely require Lakers forward Montrezl Harrell to opt in to the final year of his deal (worth $9.7 million) and be included — appears the most promising thus far.

Amick goes further by reporting other teams having interest in Hield (the Philadelphia 76ers are mentioned), and it seeming like there's going to be some sort of trade there. Hield has had his issues in Sacramento with head coach Luke Walton, so a fresh start could be good for him after an uneven 2020-21 campaign.

Hield might not be the third superstar Lakers fans want, but his shooting would fit well with LeBron and AD. Hield gets up 3-pointers at a high rate and would get plenty of good looks playing alongside those superstars. We'll see if this deal comes to fruition in the coming days.
