The Los Angeles Lakers have added another player to their training camp roster.

After signing Travis Wear and Zach Auguste last week, the team now has a total of 18 players on the roster with the signing of former USC Trojan Julian Jacobs on Thursday. The 6'4″ guard will train with the team and is looking to crack a roster spot.

Jacobs played three seasons in college and owns averages of 11.6 points, 5.4 assists, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game in his junior year and led the Pac-12 in assists with 5.5 per game.

With the Lakers already having five other point guards in the lineup in D'Angelo Russell, Marcelo Huertas, Jose Calderon, Jordan Clarkson, and Lou Williams, the chances of the Las Vegas native making the final lineup are realistically slim-to-none. But if he proves that he has a much improved jumper now, as that was the main critique on his game, he will make newly-hired head coach Luke Walton think twice on what to do with him.

In college as well as in the Summer League, Jacobs has proven that he can rebound well given his size and has involved his teammates well, as proven by his assist numbers.

Whether he makes it beyond the preseason with the Lakers is anybody's guess at this point, but his addition will definitely push the team's other guards to do better and feel that they have to justify their roster spot.
