It's no question that one of the biggest driving forces behind the Los Angeles Lakers' championship run this season was the tragic passing of Kobe Bryant. Though this Lakers unit was already heavily favored earlier in the season, they had to make sure to push each other even further when 2020 began with the horrific news from Calabasas on January 26. The entire organization took it upon themselves to make sure they honor Kobe's passing with their 17th NBA ring.

Lakers center Anthony Davis has always made it a point to honor his friend and mentor every opportunity he gets and on Sunday, he made sure to reiterate that this title is dedicated to Bean.

“It means a lot to us. It's a tough moment, man. He was a big brother to all of us and we did this for him.” Davis said after the game.

After being teammates for the Olympic Team back in 2012, these two were able to build a bond that was huge for the development of the young AD. The young AD looked up to Kobe Bryant as he was just starting in the league back then and slowly blossomed into an elite force in the NBA. Now, with Kobe looking down from the heavens, the 27-year old can proudly call himself an NBA Champion.

There have been a ton of efforts to commemorate both Kobe and Gianna Bryant after they left us all earlier this year but truly, AD and the rest of the Purple & Gold bringing the trophy back to Los Angeles is one of the best ways to honor the Laker legend.
