The Los Angeles Lakers' unlikely trio of LeBron James, Lonzo Ball, and JaVale McGee connived on a fastbreak play that is reminiscent of the Showtime squad from the 1980s.

Magic Johnson and company put on a thrilling show on a nightly basis, and it involved plenty of highlight-reel moments on the fast break. Fast forward to the present, and it appears that the Lakers of this era are trying to do the same with James leading the way.

One display of that potential awesomeness of the new-look Lakers came on Friday night when James, Ball, and McGee teamed up for a fast break that would make the Showtime Lakers grin from ear to ear.

After grabbing a defensive rebound, LeBron James quickly zoomed it ahead to Lonzo Ball, who needed only a quick touch before delivering it to JaVale McGee for the monster slam.

That type of ball movement should give the Lakers plenty of chances to score victories this season. And that's exactly what they did against the Dallas Mavericks, as Luke Walton's team walked away with a 114-103 win.

LeBron James notched a team-high 28 points while Kyle Kuzma stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists. Brandon Ingram went for 19 points in playing a team-high 40 minutes.
