We may never see Showtime at the level of Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and James Worthy ever again, but there is no question that these current Los Angeles Lakers — more often being LeBron James, Lonzo Ball, and JaVale McGee — may bring back some memories of it.

Like Saturday night against the Charlotte Hornets, for example.

Watch Ball come up with the loose ball, fire a pass to James, who then quickly lofted a pass to McGee for the alley-oop slam:

This is the type of fast-paced action people envisioned when LeBron James signed with the Lakers over the summer. While Lonzo Ball certainly has his deficiencies in terms of shooting the basketball, few will question his acumen as far as passing and floor vision.

Ball was known for leading fast breaks at UCLA, and he even showed flashes of it during his rookie year with the Lakers last season. Add James to the mix, as well as an athletic big like JaVale McGee, and Ball should have plenty of opportunities to exhibit this kind of transition talent.

While the Lakers don't appear to be title contenders, they certainly have an interesting group of young talent alongside LeBron James. Lonzo Ball definitely has potential, Kyle Kuzma is a smooth scorer and Brandon Ingram looks like a potential two-way player. Throw Josh Hart in the mix, and L.A. certainly has the makings of something there.

Of course, the Lakers are absolutely hoping to land a big-name free agent or trade for another star at some point (hello, Anthony Davis), but this current group of talent will do for now.
