The Baltimore Ravens selected quarterback Lamar Jackson out of Louisville with the 32nd pick of the 2018 NFL Draft. In his rookie year, Jackson played sparingly before taking over as the starter towards the end of the season. Big things were expected of him in his career. However, there were a lot of doubters, too. Famously, some analysts said he should switch to wide receiver or running back in the NFL. Even those that believed in him thought it might take time.

Then came the 2020 season, and with it, a major breakout campaign from Jackson.

Now the full-time starter in Baltimore, Jackson had the keys and ran with them. The quarterback put up absolutely absurd numbers in his first year as the full-time starter. And led a lot of fantasy football owners to championships.

What does he have in store for 2020, though? Let's take a look at all the variables and try to figure that out.

2019 Fantasy Stats

As already stated, 2019 was magical for Jackson and the Ravens. The quarterback was a main reason that they went 14-2 in the regular season—the best record in all of football, and Jackson was the main reason a lot of teams won their fantasy football seasons.

The signal-caller completed 66.1 percent of his passes but only threw for 3,127 yards. That does not sound like a quarterback that is going to dominate the fantasy football stat sheets.

However, that was the only number that was even relatively bad when it comes to Jackson. He led the NFL with 36 touchdown passes, and only threw six interceptions.

Meanwhile, he was a human cheat code with his legs. Too often Jackson was breaking a defender's ankles and blazing past everyone on his way to a massive run. He finished with 1,206 rushing yards and seven more touchdowns on the ground.

Most running backs would kill to put up those numbers in a season, and here is a quarterback doing it while also throwing for over 3,000 yards and scoring 36 more touchdowns.

Perhaps most importantly, Jackson was very consistent. He had very few games where he was not a major fantasy-football contributor. In fact, the only “bad” week he had was Week 17—a game in which he didn't play because the Ravens had already clinched the top seed in the playoffs.

Jackson had zero games in which he did not score at least one touchdown. He had nine games with multiple touchdown passes, eight of those were three or more. Even more incredible, three of those saw him toss five touchdown passes.

Lamar Jackson ran for over 75 yards eight times, five of those saw him reach the century mark.

He had just one game with under 200 total yards (passing and rushing combined). And that game was against the stout Buffalo Bills' defense. Oh, and he still managed three touchdown passes and 185 total yards.

Jackson was a consistent fantasy-football monster in 2019. He was topping the leaderboard all year long.

2020 Fantasy Projections

It's always hard to give fantasy projections. There are simply too many variables. Injuries will come in to play (whether it's Jackson or a key part of the offense). At the same time, how the defense plays matters as well.

There are also things to worry about, such as players exceeding expectations or taking a step back. That has to do with the opponents, too. Looking at the schedule when considering projections is important. So, if teams start performing different than they were expected to, it changes the outlook of the players going against them.

And Jackson presents an even more difficult case. The reason for that is we have very little history to go back on. 2019 was just his second year in the league and his first as a full-time starter and it was clearly a breakout year.

So with that in mind, can we predict he will lead the league in touchdown passes again? Will his passing yards still be so low? Or could they dip even more? Will he find a way to bump them up?

What about the rushing numbers? Will teams play him differently and refuse to let Jackson's legs beat them?

The issue with that is, teams were already trying to stop Jackson's legs—and it wasn't working.

Due to that, it feels like a safe bet to say Jackson is still going to run all over defenses. And with that in mind, we're going to give him another 1,200 rushing yards and eight more touchdowns in 2020.

As for the passing, he won't get as lucky as he did in 2019. There were a few plays where Lamar Jackson made the wrong move and was not punished for it. So the interceptions will rise, giving Jackson 10 in 2020.

However, he will improve in that area as well. He had an incredible arm, and was making fewer bad decisions as the year went on. The accuracy was improving as well.

So Jackson will still manage a high touchdown total, around 32. But it's the yards that will see a solid bump, as he manages just over 3,500.

The consistency will still be there as well. Expect Jackson to give you very few (if any) truly bad games. And at the end of the year, he'll be one of the top point getters in all of fantasy football.

Rank At Position

Because of his legs, there are very few quarterbacks that can compete with Lamar Jackson when it comes to fantasy points.

You can count them on one hand, really. Russell Wilson will be in the running as will Dak Prescott. Josh Allen has a chance; seriously, the guy can run and has some good weapons around him.

Deshaun Watson and Kyler Murray will be near the top as well. Carson Wentz and Aaron Rodgers might have the slimmest of outside chances.

And of course, Patrick Mahomes will be everywhere.

How many of them will actually beat out Jackson? You know, the man that led the entire NFL in fantasy points in 2019? Allen can't do it, neither can Watson or Prescott. Wentz and Rodgers are obviously out, too. Murray should be fun, but not yet.

So that leaves Wilson and Mahomes as his two biggest competitors. Wilson is an elite quarterback, but he doesn't run enough and is not going to put up record-breaking passing numbers.

Mahomes will though. He doesn't run much, but he runs a little. And he has potential to throw for 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns. I mean, he's literally already done that before.

So it comes down to Jackson and Mahomes. And in the end, Jackson gets the nod. He simply does too much with his legs. And you can't ask Mahomes to be breaking records just to keep up with the insane numbers Jackson puts up.

Not only am I putting Lamar Jackson at the top of my quarterback rankings. I'll go as far as saying he will top the fantasy football leaderboards again in 2020. And he will do so with some consistent work week-in and week-out.
