After months of uncertainty, Lance Stephenson is now assured of a roster spot when the regular season tips off.

Although that assurance, courtesy of the New Orleans Pelicans, doesn’t come with a complete guarantee, but only in terms of his contract.

According to The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the mercurial guard’s minimum deal isn’t all guaranteed.

Stephenson rose to relevance in the 2013-2014 season as a member of the Indiana Pacers, but quickly saw his stock fall down after leaving in free agency, the season after, for the Charlotte Hornets.

Ironically, last year was quite strong for the versatile swingman after posting averages of 14.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists. But numbers aren’t the main issue for Lance Stephenson as his temperament and focus have prevented him from consistently performing through the years.

He’ll get a good run in New Orleans with the absence of the team’s regulars, so it’s going to be really interesting to see how Stephenson responds.
