Larry Bird was recently interviewed by long time friend Dan Patrick on his show. The 3 time NBA Champion and now President of the Indiana Pacers believe the talented Eastern squad can elevate their level of play, especially on the scoring end.

“We want a style where we can score,” Bird told the Dan Patrick Show. “I'd like to score 105 points a game or maybe 106, but still defend the way we have.”

This number can sound absurdly high, but proficient scoring leaders like Paul George (if he can remain healthy) along with stacked utility players such as Jeff Teague and Monta Ellis can hopefully energize a strong scoring core.

“Nate's got over 900 games that he's coached in the NBA and he's got a style…I think he’s going to do an excellent job for us,” Bird continued. His high regards for coach Nate McMillan show Bird has no doubt the Pacer will go far into the postseason. If they team can adapt to Bird's desired scheme to score 100+ every night they're on the floor, they will certainly scare other teams away from that Eastern Conference Championship.
