Upon hearing news that D’Angelo Russell has been part of the deal that will send him to the Brooklyn Nets, fans had mixed emotions about it. Some felt that the 21-year-old is a big part of the team’s future and should have been given more time to prove himself with the Los Angeles Lakers. However, there were others who thought of it as a good move, to help clear cap space and perhaps prepare for the arrival of Paul George.

For Larry Nance Jr., it was not easy seeing the Ohio State product leave as they have formed a strong bond, and entered the NBA in the same year as well. He took to his Twitter account to send a farewell message to Russell, where he can be seen pointing to the “ice in his veins”, just like what Russell has popularized.

Russell will have the chance to learn from another former Laker, Jeremy Lin, who is no stranger to making a name for himself despite the odds stacked against him. Although he may not receive the same amount of playing time he’s been having under head coach Luke Walton, there’s also a possibility that he will be fielded in alongside Lin, depending on matchups.

It remains to be seen what kind of impact he can bring to the Nets, but it will be a fresh start for Russell. With his new team finishing last season with the worst record in the league, any improvement from their dismal record can be considered a small win for them, and Russell will definitely receive some credit for it.
