For the second consecutive year, Larry Nance Jr. has been one of the main attractions for the Los Angeles Lakers during their Summer League games in Las Vegas.

In the summer of 2015, Nance blocked a shot from number three overall pick Jahlil Okafor so hard that he initially thought that he might've broken his hand.

This past Saturday, his stellar hustle, highlight dunks, and general enthusiasm inspired the contingent of Lakers fans in attendance to actually chant “M-V-P” for his play. Starved for success after the worst season in franchise history, they'll take anything they can get.

That chant was previously reserved exclusively for Kobe Bryant, but now that he's gone, the Lakers faithful were quick to find their next recipient. Nance acknowledged the connection, via Mark Medina of the LA Daily News:

“I felt like Kobe a little bit,” Nance said, chuckling.

According to Medina, Nance seemed a bit embarrassed by being addressed as an MVP. After the chants started ringing out, he missed a free throw. He also air-balled a short mid range shot, and ended up with five turnovers on the night.

Instead, he felt D'Angelo Russell, who hit the game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer, should've been on the other end of them.

From Adam Reisinger of ESPN:

“First of all, if anybody was the MVP, it was D'Angelo, but I appreciated the chants,” Nance said.

Nance finished the game with 13 points, eight rebounds, seven steals, four assists, and four blocks.
