Sports documentary “The Last Dance” — which highlights Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls' journey to their sixth title — becomes  Netflix's most in-demand documentary worldwide.

As reported by Lucas Shaw of Bloomberg, “The Last Dance” has overtaken “Tiger King” and is now the most in-demand documentary on the planet. The study was made by Parrot Analytics, a research firm that tracks audience interest using data that includes social-media conversations and piracy. According to its director of partnerships, there's been a rise in sports documentaries amid the coronavirus.

“We are tracking a rise in demand for sports documentaries during the coronavirus pandemic,” said Steve Langdon, a director of partnerships at Parrot.

In the US, the documentary ranked 11th this week. For ESPN, “The Last Dance” is their most popular documentary in history and helped reignite conversations about Jordan and the legendary Bulls squad.

“The Last Dance” was originally set to be aired sometime in June 2020. But because of the coronavirus which has practically paralyzed most cities all over the world, its release was moved earlier. In NBA itself immediately called off the 2019-20 season after Rudy Gobert tested positive for the virus.

The first four episodes debuted on April 19 and 26. At the center of the documentaries is Michael Jordan himself. But the documentary has also shed light on Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman. They also highlighted the Bulls' struggles to beat the Detroit Pistons Bad Boys, as well as rising tensions with then Bulls general manager Jerry Krause.

Episodes five and six are set to drop on May 3, Sunday. Episodes seven and eight on May 10 and episodes nine and ten on May 17.
