There's no denying that Michael Jordan and his Chicago Bulls are the talk of the town these days. This is thanks in large part to ESPN's amazing docuseries, “The Last Dance.”

As to be expected, MJ memorabilia have likewise had a sharp increase in value. Case in point is Jordan's basketball cards. As reported by Sha Be Allah of The Source, the legend's rookie card has now increased in value to a whopping $51,000.

As a direct result of the Michael Jordan documentary The Last Dance releasing, sales for the 1986-87 Fleer Michael Jordan rookie card has reached its peak at $51,000, according to several sports memorabilia reports.

Most of us have probably had experience in collecting basketball cards as kids (or as adults for some), but it is highly unlikely that you've come across a card with this much value — unless maybe if you're actually a serious collector.

At this point, it no longer comes as a surprise that basketball memorabilia fetches this amount of money. The market is huge, and folks are more than willing to invest a significant amount in order to expand their collection.

Recently, a LeBron James rookie year jersey was auctioned off for a record $630,000, which is more than 10 times the price of the aforementioned Jordan card. That's not to compare, though, and we're pretty sure that any game-worn memorabilia of Jordan's from early on in his career would likely have a similar value as LeBron's jersey. What is clear is that they are all worth an insane amount of money.
