Apart from being former teammates with Michael Jordan, Steve Kerr can proudly say that he once traded fists with the Chicago Bulls icon.

The infamous story of how the deadshot point guard never backed down to from a physical altercation with the GOAT showed just how intense those '90s Bulls practices get.

In the latest episode of ESPN's The Last Dance docuseries, Kerr recounted what led to the heated confrontation between the two backcourt mates. The current Golden State Warriors head coach said,

“I have a lot of patience as a human being, but I tend to snap at some point 'cause I'm extremely competitive too, just not really good enough to back it up usually, but if I'm going, I'm going to fight,” Steve Kerr said of his fight with Michael Jordan.

Tensions were already running high for the Bulls during their 1995 training camp following a playoff loss the Orlando Magic in Jordan's return from retirement.

The pair were going hard at each other during a Bulls team scrimmage went Kerr took exception to some of Jordan's fame trash talk.

The 6-foot-1 guard took the first swing and hit Jordan in the body. Jordan reportedly fired back by punching him in the face and giving him a black eye. His Airness landed more punches before Bulls teammates held him back. Kerr discussed this with ESPN:

“I knew that if we were in an actual fight he could actually probably kill me if he wanted to … It was more just I’m going to stand up for myself.”

Although he was nowhere near Jordan's prowess on the hardwood, Kerr claimed his competitive edge was also pretty high at the time.

The now 54-year-old tactician has managed to retain some of that fire, leading the Warriors to three NBA titles as a coach.
