In Episodes 5 and 6 of The Last Dance, some light was shed on the rivalry between Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas, which prevented the latter from joining the legendary basketball squad.

In connection with this, basketball analyst Mike Wilbon incorrectly reported that a total of nine members of the Dream Team objected Thomas to be part of the 1992 Olympic basketball team, including Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Scottie Pippen.

Wilbon, however, owned up to his mistake and apologized to Thomas. In return, the Detroit Pistons legend made a classy response.

In The Last Dance, Jordan himself admitted to hating Thomas, though he noted that he had huge respect for his talents. However, Jordan said that he did not have a part in preventing Thomas from joining the Dream Team.

“I respect Isiah Thomas’ talent. To me, the best point guard of all time is Magic Johnson and right behind him is Isiah Thomas. No matter how much I hate him, I respect his game. It was insinuated that I was asking about him (being left off) but I never threw his name in there,” Jordan claimed in The Las Dance

As seen in earlier episodes of The Last Dance, before winning his first title in 1991, Jordan and the Bulls were brick-walled by Thomas and the Bad Boys of Detroit for three straight seasons. Their physicality and aggressiveness — as manifested in the “Jordan Rules” — are the roots of this tension. With Jordan's admission, will this beef be finally squashed?
