Before Chicago Bulls rookie Lauri Markkanen could don the legendary No. 24 jersey, he had to go and seek permission from the legend himself who once wore the halted uniform — Brian Scalabrine.

“I got to know (Brian) Scalabrine through this (draft) process and asked him if he'd be ok if I chose 24,” Markkanen told Bulls.com about his jersey number selection.

Now approaching a rebuilding mode, the Bulls' fan base had some fun of their own over Twitter.

It might have been five years since he last played for the Bulls, but Scalabrine's 52 points over two years are as unforgettable as wedding vows for those who ride or die with the G.O.A.T.
