The NBA Draft is under a month away, and for Los Angeles Lakers fans hoping their favorite team drafts UCLA star Lonzo Ball, it can't come quickly enough. While many do want Ball, others don't want to deal with the headache that is his outspoken and seemingly crazed father, LaVar Ball.

According to Darren Rovell, LaVar turned down offers from Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour around the $10 million range over five years. Ball said he wanted a billion dollar shoe deal for his kids a few months ago, and the companies looked another direction.

Once the Lakers officially won the second overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft on June 22, it made it even more likely that Ball would remain in his hometown of Los Angeles to play for the Lakers. Rovell says the elder Ball should've tried to renegotiate with the major shoe companies, but did the complete opposite instead.

“The original deals that Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour were going to offer Lonzo Ball would be 5-year, $10 million. So $2 million per year.

“It's strange to me that LaVar didn't at least fold some of his cards and go back to the shoe companies in earnest,” said Rovell. “After the Lakers thing goes down and the perfect scenario is going to unfold, the new deal might be five years and $20 million. But what does LaVar Ball do? Instead of saying he now wants $1 billion, he now wants $3 billion.”

It'll be interesting to see how Lonzo performs on the court, and how that results in the sales of his shoes as well as the buildup on the family's Big Baller Brand.
