Lee “Flame” Ho-jong is the latest League of Legends veteran to enter the halls of retirement. There has been a nonstop stream of retirements from beloved League of Legends professionals following the conclusion of the 2020 season. Flame is just the most recent one to join the list and I suspect he won't be the last before the year ends. The South Korean Top debuted in the professional scene back in 2012 with Azubu Blaze. He has since found varying degrees of success on multiple teams up until his retirement.

When the Flame goes out

Flame was once considered one of the best Korean Top Laners in the prime of his career. It's been a long time since he dominated the region but he is still remembered fondly by diehard fans of the scene. He took a brief break away from the Korean region when he played for LGD Gaming in China for one season. He returned to the LCK to play for Longzhu Gaming. Immediately following his tenure for Longzhu, Flame transferred to NA where he fought for Immortals and FlyQuest for one year each.

He once again returned to the Korean region where he found a spot on the rising DAMWON Gaming. Unfortunately for the veteran Top Laner, he was not part of the DAMWON roster which eventually took home the Summoner's Cup in the 2020 League of Legends World Championship.

Prior to his announcement on his Twitch channel, Flame left the DAMWON Gaming organization in November of this year owing to a mutual agreement between two parties. It's always tough seeing once-famous veterans go silently into the night but every career has to have an end. There is no word on what Flame intends to do after his retirement but hopefully he'll find success in whatever he pursues.
