Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James will be officially considered as day-to-day after sustaining a groin strain in the middle of the third quarter against the Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. James underwent an MRI on Wednesday, which came back clean after the All-Star forward missed the last 20 minutes of the game with the injury.

This comes as a huge sigh of relief, given there's no structural damage or the potential worry of an extended absence, which could put the Lakers' playoff hopes in real jeopardy moving forward. A Lakers staffer suggested to Bill Oram of The Athletic that it could take as few as 10 James absences to derail the purple-and-gold's playoff chances in a tightly-contested Western Conference.

Teammates worried for James, as he's not known to sit out for the remainder of a game just because of mere discomfort, as the four-time MVP took a seat for the last 7:51 of the third quarter and the entire fourth quarter after being ruled out for the game by the medical staff.

James wasn't too worried about his injury, noting he would wait to hear the MRI results and focus on rehabbing his injury with intent to take the court on Thursday against the Sacramento Kings.

The Lakers pulled out a 127-101 win over the Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day, surviving a 14-1 run in the third and pushing past it with James out of the game to clinch one of their best wins of this season.
