As LeBron James takes his time to make a decision about his future in the NBA, fans and experts alike continue to conjure up theories and speculate on the four-time league MVP’s next destination – or whether he would remain a Cleveland Cavaliers asset for at least another year.

However, based on the information shared by ESPN’s Doris Burke during a recent appearance on the Locked On Heat podcast, it appears as though LeBron James is very much leaning towards leaving the Cavs.

If James truly wants to play more off the ball moving forward, staying in Cleveland does not make sense for the three-time NBA champion.

James put up a herculean task on an almost nightly basis this past season for the Cavs, especially during the playoffs. In the postseason, James averaged a tremendous stat line of 34.0 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 9.0 assists per game, as a ball-dominant point-forward who spent most of the time on the court either setting his teammates up for scoring chances or creating buckets himself. Without much help, James was left carrying most of the burden of winnings games on his shoulders.

LeBron James wanting to play off the ball could also be a sign that he wants to save some gas to extend his career as long as possible. James led the league in minutes last season in which for the first time in his career, he also played in all 82 games in the regular season.

So where does a superstar like James would fit in as an off-the-ball player? A team like the Rockets with a James Harden could be one, but until James makes a decision, it’s all speculation for now.
