LeBron James' son, Bronny, has apparently suffered a knee injury that will keep him sidelined for the remainder of the high school basketball season.

Tarek Fattal of the Los Angeles Daily News reported James, a sophomore at Sierra Canyon High School, suffered a torn meniscus in his knee:

Sierra Canyon’s Bronny James suffered a torn meniscus in his knee, multiple sources confirmed for the Los Angeles Daily News on Thursday. The highly-touted sophomore has had surgery, and he is expected to make a full recovery.

The injury, which happened roughly three weeks ago, is believed to be season-ending, one source said. But it might depend on the status of high school basketball in California, which has yet to permit indoor high school competition, including basketball and volleyball.

Bronny James is the No. 25 prospect in ESPN's 25 for the Class of 2023. He saw inconsistent minutes in his freshman season, mostly because that Sierra Canyon team also featured a pair of top-10 recruits in B.J. Boston (Kentucky) and Ziaire Williams (Stanford). However, some evaluators feel Bronny James will continue to evolve as he grows into his body.

Former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas spent some time working with James, telling his more famous father that Bronny has a very similar in skillset:

“He's your clone, you don't need to be worried,” Arenas told LeBron, via NBC Sports Washington. “Just from looking at him, you were probably taller, you've got the same speed, he probably jumps higher, passes probably the same, IQ probably the same, he shoots better and dribbles better. He [James] said ‘that is actually correct.'”

It will be fascinating to watch Bronny James' prep career progress, though the pandemic has interrupted matters, as has this most recent injury.

That said, there are those around the game who seem to think he has clear upside going forward.
