In the last several weeks, there has been a growing sense that LeBron James could bolt the Cleveland Cavaliers next summer when he enters free agency.

While in the process, the Los Angeles Lakers have progressively emerged as a landing spot for James' services if were to decide to leave Cleveland a second time. However, Lee Jenkins of Sports Illustrated believes that the appeal of the city of Los Angeles won't play a big factor in the four-time league MVP's decision-making process.

What should also be noted in this situation is that James currently owns a home in Los Angeles and his children were enrolled in schools in the area. On top of that, he is already arguably the most recognizable player in the league that doesn't need the market to boost his personal brand.

That said, the Lakers have put together an intriguing roster with a promising young core group led by rookie point guard Lonzo Ball and second-year forward Brandon Ingram. Los Angeles could experience a significant leap forward this upcoming year that could peek James' interest in joining the mix.

The organization has also positioned themselves to have nearly enough cap space next summer to sign two max contracts that could foreseeably see James bring another superstar along with him such as Paul George. Ultimately, all of this may depend on how things next season for the Lakers.
