UFC 269 lost a big fight when Jorge Masvidal pulled out of the event due to an injury. This now leaves Leon Edwards without an opponent and potentially won't fight at the event.

The two had plenty of bad blood in the lead-up to the fight as they had an incident back in 2019 that led to the fight being on everyone's radar. Jorge Masvidal had a backstage altercation where he punched Leon Edwards at UFC London in March 2019.

He famously dubbed the punch ‘three-piece and a soda' in honor of the fried chicken restaurant KFC. The event drew lots of attention to the UFC and many wanted the welterweights to fight as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, they will have to continue waiting as the fight could potentially never happen. UFC 269 was the first attempt to get the fight booked.

Leon Edwards reacted to the fight with a simple tweet that implied he wasn't interested in finding another fight. It is currently unclear what the UFC wants to do.

“Disappointed but honestly I knew this fraud didn’t want to fight me anyway,” Edwards wrote. “He was just a stop off on the way to the title. The goal remains the same. Much needed family time now, @usman84kg I will see you soon.”

It seems Leon Edwards does not plan on fighting at UFC 269 as he wants to wait on the champion Kamaru Usman. Many fighters are hoping to face Edwards and step up on short notice. Khamzat Chimaev and Belal Muhammad stand out as some of the names.
