The Tampa Bay Lightning are on the brink of elimination against the Colorado Avalanche in the Stanley Cup Final. Ahead of Game 5, Lightning head coach Jon Cooper provided an update on injured forwards Brayden Point and Anthony Cirelli. According to NHL.com, Cooper revealed that Point and Cirelli are being considered game-time decisions ahead of Game 5 in Colorado.

Point has been mired by injury throughout the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The 26-year-old was injured in the first round against the Toronto Maple Leafs and missed the subsequent two series against the Florida Panthers and New York Rangers. He returned for the first two games of the Stanley Cup Final but his lower-body injury acted up again and held him out of the lineup for Games 3 and 4.

With Tampa on the brink of elimination, Point will be doing everything in his power to get back onto the ice for Friday night's game, but it's no guarantee that he'll be cleared to suit up. Arguably the Lightning's best all-around player when healthy, Point's absence didn't slow Tampa Bay down in the second round or the Eastern Conference Final, but the Avalanche have proved a more difficult task for the Lightning. Having him available for Game 5 could be a key factor in the outcome on Friday night.

As for Cirelli, he sustained an upper-body injury in the second period in Game 4 but returned for the third period and overtime. The Lightning lost the game 3-2, though Cirelli scored the game's opening goal just 36 seconds into the first period of play. Despite being able to return for the latter stages of Wednesday's game, his status is up in the air for Game 5.

Throughout the playoffs, Cirelli has registered 8 points in 21 games, including 3 goals. The 24-year-old is coming off of a regular season during which he registered 43 points, scoring 17 goals and providing 26 assists in his fourth year with the Lightning.
