Lio Rush signed to the wrestling organization AEW back in September after having previously made an appearance at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view back in May. He also received other offers but opted for AEW.

He is now set to make his long-awaited in-ring debut at Dynamite on Wednesday. It hasn't quite been smooth sailing though for AEW's newest star. Lio Rush's grandmother passed away from a heart attack before she was able to see him.

Lio Rush took to Twitter to share the news and his feelings. The AEW man was understandably devastated.

“Just got some rough news that my grandmother has sadly passed from a heart attack. We talked about how she looked forward to seeing me wrestle on TV again. Tomorrow I’ll be making my @AEW debut without my grandmother. But i know she will still be watching. This is for you. 🕊”

There is something special about someone dedicating a performance to a family member that has passed away. The AEW wrestler will bring a lot of emotion as well as a lot to prove.

Lio Rush has big aspirations with AEW as he is hoping to become the first African-American champion for the promotion. It's a tall order but not completely out of the question for the Maryland man.

Lio Rush will be looking to make a big statement in his debut and prove that his lofty goal is possible. He will certainly have many people going for him in AEW after the tough loss he's going through.
