The Detroit Lions got their man in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, selecting Michigan standout Aidan Hutchinson with the second overall pick. It was between them and the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he ultimately stayed home and will suit up for the Lions in his rookie year.

Hutchinson took to Twitter on Friday and expressed just how excited he is to get started:

The Lions needed a franchise-changing player and they got him. Hutchinson is an absolute force to be reckoned with on the defensive side of the ball and will wreak havoc in Year One. He was a beast in his senior season with the Wolverines, racking up a program-record 14 sacks. He also won the award for being the best defensive end in the nation.

It's been many years of disappointment for Detroit, but Hutchinson gives them a glimmer of hope for the future. He's clearly happy to help the Lions build this thing up and become a contender, no matter how long it might take.

Hutchinson was long expected to be the top pick, but the Jaguars instead opted to select Travon Walker instead. Needless to say, the Lions are ecstatic they were able to nab Aidan Hutchinson.

Training camp can't start soon enough.
