Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift will be heading back to the field in Week 14 against the Green Bay Packers after missing last week's tilt due to an illness, as per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

In his first campaign in the league, Swift has already made himself a staple in the Lions' rushing game which was in dire need of better reinforcements. He last appeared on the field during their Week 10 matchup against the Washington Football Team where he led the team with 81 yards on 16 carries. A game-winning field goal by placekicker Matt Prater lifted the Lions to narrowly win against Washington on a final score of 30-27.

The former Georgia standout went on to miss their Week 11 slate against the Carolina Panthers where the team failed to score a single point en route to a 20-0 blowout defeat. The Lions managed to get better in their following game but still fell short as they lose against the Houston Texans in their Week 12 matchup via a 41-25 loss.

Still without Swift on their corner, veteran rusher Adrian Peterson stepped up in their Week 13 showdown against division rival Chicago Bears where he generated 57 yards on 16 carries and two rushing touchdowns. His efforts were enough for Motor City to secure their fifth win of the season with a 34-30 triumph against the Bears.

Sitting in third in the divisional standings, the Lions are glad to get the rookie rusher back at the helm, just in time as they face a tough assignment in the streaking Packers. D'Andre Swift's return will hopefully delay their opponents' plans of securing the NFC North title after winning two consecutive games heading into the match.
